Approach
The Centre transdisciplinary approach is to involve all stakeholders for a sustainable improvement of urban food systems. Therefore, to create awareness the centre makes people think and define challenges that face urban food systems. Then, it seeks local solutions that work to tackle these challenges and put them in easily understandable roadmaps that should influence decision-makers and support them in improving the food systems.
Services
The Centre for Urban Food Systems provides the following services:
- Creation, implementation and supervision of urban gardens, hydro and aquaponics
- Selection and planning of optimal locations for urban gardens
- Policy support in the planning of urban gardens at local and national level
- Policy support in improving the resilience of urban food systems
- Capacity building on urban gardening and food systems
- Evidence synthesis on urban gardening and food systems issues
